hello everyone,
sorry i haven't posted in a week, i've been to france!
france has incredible cuisine and i was lucky enough to try it's personal speciality; snails
they are traditionally cooked in a lot (i mean
a lot) of garlic and kept in the shell for serving. they are normally served with croutons and a toothpick (or more specialised tool) is used to remove them to eat!
however, i'm not here to give you the whole recipe of "escargot", i want to give you guys a list of a few foodie inspired things to do in the summer:
1. eat salad!
salad is know for being very healthy and it has possibly grown a reputation of being bland and boring. but, if you make it right and add the perfect dressing, a salad for lunch can be a scrumptious meal to tie you over till dinner. this particular recipe is a pepper and halloumi sale recipe and it is a perfect dish for vegetarians. this salad is best made whilst a bbq is well on the way and both components can be grilled on the bbq whiteout taking up much space- what could be more perfect?
Serves: 4
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
You will need
2 red peppers, cut into strips
250g packet halloumi, drained and sliced
6 tbsp olive oil
Juice of 1 lemon
Handful of chopped parsley
Salt and Pepper
Method
1. Preheat the grill or prepare the barbecue. Grill the peppers until their skins are bubbly and roasted, and blackened along the edges. Lightly season the grilled peppers.
2. Grill the slices of halloumi until lightly golden on each side.
3. Combine the grilled peppers and halloumi in a bowl, dress with the olive oil and lemon juice and garnish with parsley.
2. eat summer fruits!
at the moment, i'm having an obsession for summer fruits, blueberries in particular. i just can't seem to get enough of the sweet, fruity and juicy tastes of the fruit that have been homegrown in the UK and couldn't be better from anywhere else! here is a mini list of my faves:
- blueberries - these small, cheap and consistently delicious fruits are available almost anywhere and are definitely at the top of my shopping list
- raspberries - yummy pink gems which will top off any summer fruit salad or even eat with fruity or plain yogurt!
- strawberries - a true english classic! i don't think i need to say much more...
there are many more too! just pick up any fresh fruit which have actually come from the country you live in! they are guaranteed to be delicious :)
3. grow a tomato plant

a quick easy and cheap thing to do this summer :)
buy a packet of tomato seeds in a local garden shop for very cheap. in the summer, newspapers often give away packets of seeds anyway, so this activity is practically priceless! the food side of growing a tomato plant is, obviously, eating the result! clear instructions are always there in the packet so i won't tell you how to plant incase the instructions differ from the seeds i normally use.
once the plant is ready, pick you tomatoes. these should then be washed and eaten straight away or cooked!
4. make a fruity smoothie
i lovee
innocent smoothies and have at least a glass a day. these delicious smoothies are healthy and at least 1 of your 5 a day.
heres a recipe i have experimented with, inspired by mr. innocent himself :)
the recipe is for a pomegranates, acai and blueberry smoothie which is literally packed with goodness.
the recipe below will serve for 250ml or a large glass of juice, they are easily multipliable for larger quantities!
25 peeled acai berries
½ mashed banana
38 crushed blueberries
21 pressed red & white grapes
½ a squeezed orange
⅓ crushed pomegranate
